Mad Hatters Art Festival – Grand Ave Coconut Grove, Florida

The Mad hatters art festival has come back..

November 20th - 21st, 2010
Saturday 10:00 – 5:00 pm
Sunday 10:00 – 5:00 pm

This year the festival will close the street to CARS on GRAND AVENUE from The Grove Bookstore Corner and Cocowalk all the way to Mary Street.

HATS WILL BE JUDGED and participants will receive GROVE BUCKS that turn into real bucks at the local participating coconut grove restaurants and stores.

SO DRESS UP, HAVE FUN AND BE PART OF THE EXPERIENCE.

All the artists will be in the street THIS YEAR so it will be a really nice EVENT.
Come see my works, watercolors, oil paintings, fabrics, rugs, artcards, posters, limited edition giclees.

The black information booths may soon be colorful .

The Black Information Booths may not be black too much longer. There is a plan in place to have local artists spruce up the drab booths with artwork.

The first booth painted may be the one at CocoWalk, where Louis is shown here. Local aritst Eileen Seitz, who did a couple of the peacocks (like the one in our masthead above) is said to be desiging the first one. It is going to have a “Coconut Grove Colorful Kiosk”with plants painted around the “little bungalow”.

The Coconut Grove Peacock Tour was launched and all the finished peacocks were splendidly displayed out along the Promenade by the Shoppes of Mayfair. These photos were shot at the beginning of the first hour but the party had not quite yet started.. It was packed. Just about everyone was there.

“Majestic Peacock” my 1st peacock sponsored by Milam’s Market, Coconut Grove

“Queen Of Coconut Grove“ my 2nd peacock . I was fortunate to have had a second sponsor Pat Sessions and Family for the benefit of the Village Council inspired my vision for this imagery. He asked me to paint Main Hwy, the historic playhouse, Charles Street where the first Bahamian villagers settled in the late 1800’s , Greenstreets restaurant, Commodore Plaza down to the Post office and LuLus restaurant on the far right corner. Grovites who live here love Coconut Grove. We live outdoors and bicycle, sail and stroll our neighborhoods.. So putting the local “Peacocks” in town amongst the gardens that grow profusely here is my way of showing how much many of love Coconut Grove.
